Summer Entertaining At Home!

With the restrictions lifted we are getting excited about hosting at home parties during the warmer weather season!

While being a hostess can sometimes make you feel a bit overwhelmed a bit of planning ahead and selecting some great food items to assist can make you feel little more rested so you can sit back and enjoy the fun and sun!

Grilling Time:

When making meats and vegetables on the grill, take them out of the fridge and put into a Tupperware. Drizzle generously with Olive Oil (we love our very own My Mother’s Olive Oil for this!) and shake on a variety of spices in the market that are pre made to have the perfect assortment of flavours to make your protein and veg taste delicious.  Let them rest for about an hour so that when ready to grill they are perfectly flavoured! Finish all off with a squeeze of fresh lemon to bring out all the flavours!

Cocktail Bar:

A standard bar ready to help yourself to a perfect cocktail doesn’t need a lot of planning. To help guests make the perfect cocktail it’s always great to have these items on hand:

Spirits:

  • Gin
  • Vodka
  • Rum

Fizzy & Others:

  • Tonic
  • Sparkling Water
  • Gingerale
  • Clamato Juice
  • Lemonade/Orange Juice

Garnishes:

  • Lemon/Lime
  • Seedless Spanish Olives
  • Celery

Have a variety of colourful cups, stirrers and LOTS of ICE on hand!

What Wine To Serve!

Probably one of the most overwhelming areas where hostesses feel confused, we make it simple for you!

Each 750ml bottle will serve 4 six ounce glasses of wine.  Depending on your crowd you will need 1 bottle for every 2 guests.

Summer Heat can call for refreshing wines, so we recommend all wines – even reds be chilled before serving!

A fresh, bright Chardonnay pairs perfectly with seafood and fish, while a dry Rose is the perfect accompaniment to chicken and cheeses.  Don’t forget a yummy Cab although big and bold in flavour is still awesome with grilled steaks or any other red meat!

Décor:

Keeping your outdoor fun and comfortable doesn’t take a lot of work when you’re hosting outside.

The morning of, give your outdoor space a good sweep, wipe off tables, shake out the pillows and tada! You’re ready to entertain. Put out a few citronella candles to avoid mosquitos, pick up some paper plates and forks and you’re ready to enjoy the outdoor sun!

Don’t want guests walking in and out with their shoes, pick up some fun dollar store flip flops and have them ready for guests outside so they can slip into them before heading in.

Have a pool? Best to have some guest towels for those who have forgotten ready and rolled to allow guests to use.  And if you do have a pool, fill the pool up with some fun beach balls for colour and a bit of wet fun!

Not Hosting but attending a bbq summer party, then consider bringing these fabulous hostess gifts so that you’re the star guests! And show how much you care with a big thank you!
